  • High Blood Sugar and Type II Diabetes

Everyone’s blood sugar is different. My doctor has had me on Glipizide and Metformin for years, but I only take them a couple of times a month and rarely together. I test my fasting blood sugar every day, and generally, I get the same reading. Sometimes it’s higher, but I can often correlate it with losing weight, dehydration, or both. If I’m dehydrated and then drink 8 ounces of water, my glucose will be normal an hour later.

I’m prescribed both glipizide and metformin for Type 2 diabetes, yet I rarely use them. I am tracking what I eat during the day and checking my fasting blood sugar every morning. It’s interesting that I may have a blood sugar above 120 in the morning, but as soon as I eat, if I check it again 30 minutes later, it is normal. Do I really need Metformin or Glipizide? I don’t think so.
